Compensation Plan

We have constructed a pay plan that is the highest in the industry.  Based on our pay package, as outlined below, you can expect weekly pay to be in excess of $1600. We are a small company, and as such, do not offer benefits since they would cost us far more money, and be far less attractive than you can obtain on your own. I when I started the company I made the conscious decision not to offer these since it would require additional personnel, and a far less attractive pay package. After all, who can decide better how to use your money, than you!

If you are driving, you are earning! We offer a base mileage pay of $.52 per mile for all miles driven for dispatch purposes, including deadhead miles.  Weekly pay every Monday by direct deposit includes loads that are on your truck Friday so you are always paid current! 

If you are available to drive, we guarantee your miles. Derek is a highly skilled dispatcher, allowing us to guarantee you 2300 miles per week. Sometimes, the best paying loads are not that long. You will not be penalized if we don't run you.

Due to our extremely low overhead, we are able to offer a weekly profit sharing plan. Our cost of operations is $1.70 per mile including fuel, driver costs, insurance, and depreciation.  We have recently increased our profit-sharing to 25% of amounts over $1.70 per mile.  From 2016 to date, we have average $2.40 per mile providing an average additional per mile bonus of 17 cents per mile.

Your time is valuable!  We do our best to pre-plan pick ups and deliveries.  As you know this doesn't always work out. Will you pay a $30 per hour detention after three hours, and a $200 layover. Both are in addition to regular weekly pay.  Unlike most companies, we do not take a cut of either.

Why wait for your sign on bonus! Most companies make you wait three or six months to collect. We offer an immediate continuous signing bonus of $.10  per mile for your first three months on the job with your weekly check.

At Joe Pelican Motor Freight, we recognize extraordinary behavior, and believe in rewarding it. Sometimes you've gone out of the way to change your schedule or you've driven an exceptionally profitable week. At my discretion, I offer, and frequently dole out, discretionary bonuses.

As a semi regional trucking company, we are hiring drivers that live along our frequently travel routes. This allows us to guarantee home time of every other weekend. Typically during those weekends we will also have a load on the truck that will deliver the following Monday or Tuesday.

Being an over the road driver is the most difficult job imaginable. One of the few comforts that you get is being able to choose your fueling and parking locations so that you are able to go where you are comfortable going. We do not micromanage your fueling or stopping locations.

Our fuel cards allow for a $100 per week cash advance. Typically those will be recuperated out of the ensuing weekly paycheck.
